Rising hepatitis C–associated death rates, balanced with increasingly promising results in clinical trials of combination therapies, make it more important than ever for primary care practitioners to remain alert and informed regarding this often-asymptomatic disease. Identifying and screening at-risk patients and implementing current management recommendations can lead to increased rates of early diagnosis and effective treatment.
