EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

• Identify patients of all ages who lack access to professional dental care and may require oral health education and/or preventive dental services.

 
• Instruct parents in appropriate dental care and good oral health strategies for young children.
 
• Discuss dental sealants, topical fluoride varnish, and other tools to prevent dental decay and its progression.
 
• Describe oral health concerns in specific patient populations, including pregnant women, adults who have never had health insurance, Medicare enrollees with no supplemental insurance, and patients who have comorbidities associated with poor dental health.

Ray Samuel Hall II practices family dentistry at Indian Health Services, Micmac Health Department, US Department of Health and Human Services, Presque Isle, Maine.
